Why So Many Players Opt For Benamor Golf Course

Some golfers are content at playing in local golf courses; they never aspire to test their game on world renowned golf courses. Those who love to travel and are deeply passionate about golf must surely play on the Benamor Golf Course in Tavira, Portugal.

Course designed by Sir Henry Cotton

When the idea to create a world-class golf course in Benamor was discussed, the Martins Dias Family, which owns the course, decided to use Sir Henry Cotton to create the golf course. To design the course, he took inspiration from the nearby church. The church and its location stirred his imagination. The result was a fine par-71 golf course that’s one of the best courses in Europe.

Although Sir Henry Cotton came up with the design for this course in 1986, it was built and opened to the public in 2000. This 18-hole, par-71 golf course opens its arm wide to invite everyone. The general public, visitors, and members are all welcomed to play on the Benamor Golf Course.

Professionally maintained and managed golf course

The Benamor Golf Course witnesses regular flow of golfers throughout the year. But demand for tee time increases manifolds during the peak season. Those who book the tee time in advance are required to be present at reception 10-15 minutes before tee time.

All that a player needs to do is arrive on time; everything a golfer needs can be found in the pro shop. Players can get golf gear, shoes, and clubs for hire. To carry the golf bags, players can also rent trolley, buggies, etc. The golf practice facility at Benamor Golf Course is awesome. Focus on developing short game shots by practicing on the putting area and separate short game shots practice area. Players can practice their long drives at the driving range. The course offers golf lessons to interested players.

A challenging golf course

Situated on the outskirts of Tavira, the Benamor Golf Course offers excellent playing conditions to golfers of all skill levels. This parkland course is neither overly flat nor hilly. Standing on the course, players get to enjoy spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean on the southern side and the mountains on the northern side of the course.

To make the course aesthetically pleasing various types of trees – almond, fig, carob, and olive trees – are placed on the course. These trees also make the game more challenging to the golfers. To play on this tricky course and maneuver around the trees, golfers need to be on top of their game.
